White masonry walls for privacy in this backyard, along with the white patio and raised planting area retaining walls, create quite an unusual backdrop. Sleek and contemporary, the heat is reflected from all surfaces, which is a welcome thing over the summer months in the Phoenix and Scottsdale areas. Surprisingly, the effect creates a stunning frame around every plant, somehow turning each one into a piece of art of its own accord.
The shade structure is custom built to fit this space, echoing the all white theme with the stucco masonry support pillars. The weight of the red cedar shade roof timbers adds a welcome spot of earth tone accent and is repeated in the low voltage wall lighting fixtures on each pillar.
This patio design’s overall effect is light, airy and stunning. The polished marble outdoor fireplace’s design is simple yet very striking. The same marble has been used to create a cut stone tile top on the built in BBQ grill’s surface and attached casual seating bar. The ramada, while very useful, finishes off the entire look quite nicely.
